There is not much that can be done for the lost time and emotional turmoil we went through, as that can't be recovered.
If there is ever an attempt at financial restitution, rest assured, I have a spread sheet of all the people that contributed, and the amounts they contributed. If Num 8 finds a means to re-pay, I will individually send the money back to any of you that have donated. It might ultimetly come down to just loosing paypal fees in the transaction, but that will be better than a total loss.
If there is "partial" repayments, I feel the best way to do that is perhaps start with those that donated the largest amount first (like the $500, $200) donators, and pay them back all but like $20. This way I can try to make the burden to be no more than $20 a person. I think we all can afford to loose $20 worst case..
Believe me, I feel bad, that the trust of FPS and it's fans were breached.. It is going to suck that it is going to be harder to trust or willingly help out anyone in need in the future.
out of all this however, I have to applaud all of you that did donate, you sure showed your true colors.. that Furry as a whole is not a bunch of loosers, but there are still many threads of decency within.. |

| Twitter Tweeets. |
[May. 4th, 2009|10:33 am] |
-- crossposted from furryhams, for those over here in RX land.. --
I was sitting at my HF the other day, wondering if any fur was out there in DX land.. but always up to the question who is avail? Who could be on the air?
Well, I despise twitter for most of the spam people dump into LJ with it, but theoretically, it is supposed to be able to send SMS messages out as well.
Well, I got to playing, and now on the furryhams.org website, there is a "cq tweet" option, that once you log into furryhams web site, you can send a tweet to the twitter user "Furryhams". Well, so far, that part works.. I can see tweets posted.. so I assume all would work in theory.. My stump right now is that I have yet to see any SMS to my personal twitter account.. Perhaps I mis understood how twitter works? I thought this would be a great way to announce to furry hams that you might be working a band, to alert people who might be near a radio and try to DX.
Any thoughts? |

| Furry Biking Daytona Plans. |
[Mar. 1st, 2009|12:22 pm] |
Ok, plans are at this point, to meet at Bear Rock Cafe parking lot at 8am on Tues morning. (where the tuesday night events take place) and hit I-4 from there. If interstate traffic is looking heavy, perhaps delay a lil and get breakfast, to be determined once everyone arrives.. So far list of people going:
Yappy KJ Kataru Laphin Allison Sporty Farin
Pickup in St Augustine/meet up in Daytona.. Slyphox??
I suspect we will be visiting both Speedway for all the metric owners, as well as maybe braving the beach side/main st. for the Hogs. I dunno if there is any interest in anyone going up to J&P, etc..
If anyone else is planning on going up, RSVP here, so we know you are coming.
Also, anyone intersted on braving up there on Monday? I have that day off as well, perhaps do the J&P stuff that day.. anyone?? |

You Are: 50% Dog, 50% Cat
|

You are a nice blend of cat and dog.
You're playful but not too needy. And you're friendly but careful.
And while you have your moody moments, you're too happy to stay upset for long.

That's what they say about foxes.. "Cat like Dogs" :> |

| Seeking Roomate... |
[Dec. 22nd, 2008|11:49 pm] |
I have a spare bedroom in south east Kissimmee (Poinciana) that I'm looking to rent out. It includes the room with a walk in closet, and a private bath (with exception of when people come over). It also will include electric, water, sewer, and internet. One would have to put up with an internet puppet show every sunday night. I prefer a non-smoker, or a smoker that goes outside. Person would be best off with reliable transportation, as it is a remote location, unless you work in Kissimmee, Haines City or Davenport. There is bus service available Monday - Sat, but that can be kind of annoying with its links.
I don't want a deadbeat roomate either.. I can't afford to pay anyone's way right now, thus the reason I'm seeking a roomate.
Looking at $500 a month inclusive of the utilities, and help with yard work, as well as help with common consumables (toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap). Might negotiate the price down $50 a month, if you are willing to do all the yard work, which is mowing, edging, trimming, blowing.
Slobs need not apply.. I try to keep a clean house.. So do your own dishes and clean your own toilet!
Washer and Dryer also included. |

[Oct. 1st, 2008|12:23 pm] |
Just a heads up, I'm cleaning my friends list of those that are only twitching, tweeting, twirping or whatever it wants to be called.. It's just a bunch of wasted journal page of babble.
-EDIT- I already did the purge.. it only applied to people who were only doing twitter posts.. the rest of you are fine.. |

KJ came down, and we rented Harleys for the day. KJ picked up a blue electro-glide, and I took out this Heritage Classic. CHROME! 96 cubic Inch (almost 1600cc) and man, did this thing take off on the line. When I first got on it, I was intimidated by the sheer weight of it, and it was much more challenging to take turns in it. However, once up on the highway.. getting it up to 70mph was a breeze, and felt -nothing- like my 200c trying to get that speed. 6 gears, cruising along at 70 in 6th gear and it was a low rumble the whole way.. From a traffic light, I only 1/2 throttled it open, and I was off the line and bouncing off the rev limiter at 35, and then bouncing off it again at 60 in 2nd gear, but that entire acceleration was like 4 seconds! My china bike would have taken like 15 :>
All in all we put 260 miles on over the day (OMG, impossible to back up in dirt, it's so heavy) and Im sore from a) differnt posture than china bike b) longest course of riding in a day
But after feeling what a real bike is like out on the road.. I'm sure looking forward to picking up the M50 next weekend. |

[Sep. 22nd, 2008|12:19 pm] |

My trainer bike is just too small, and running it on it's red lines every day is not doing it any good.. So... I plunged. I gotta figure out how to get it from Ricmond, VA to Kissimmee now :>
Anyone wanna buy a 200cc bike? Make a good trainer, or a city commuter :> |

Awesome kick ass time in Germany.
I want to thank all my hosts for this trip..
Löwi for giving my a place to sleep and putting up with my snoring. NachtFuchs for the yummy dinner at the Art Jams night. Eisbaer for hardware store expeditions in german electrical devices. GroßBlauFuchs for being awesome as usual.. and everyone that I climbed 509 stairs in the Köln cathedral.. Currywurst! Pork Gyros! Kölch! Mettwurst! Mettwurst! TeeWurst!
Metal versions of Abba songs, and German cover bands or rock songs done country style x.x
I really like Germany.. I hope I can get the oportunity to afford to get out here next year. I will however make a commitment to learn to speak some of the language this coming year.
Man, I hope I can find some of these wursts back home....
This vacation has pumped some energy back into me.. I'm inspired to do more puppeteering, got some ideas for MP, want to learn German, need to get into shape so I can climb 509 stairs and fursuit for more than 20 minutes at a time :P
Off to London for the last day of my trip!
Cheerio! Auf Wiedersehen! |

This was a fun picture. I didn't actually get to ride this bike, I just wanted to pose for pictures.
It is an early 1980's East german military bike owned by Atalon Deer. He bought it at surplus auction after the wall was torn down. It was originally a 250 CC 2 stroke that he bored out to 300CC. He has traveled the world with it, having transported it to Australia even. I thought it looked rather interesting, and Chuckles looks good on it :> |

All I can say OMG.. EF is hands down the world's best Fur-Con. It makes it hard when the best con in the world has to be so expensive to get to.. but a 5 day non-stop party, where people didn't stop dancing or drinking till the sun came up.. *flops* Damn!
The staff of EF know how to throw one hell of a party.
Thier pawpet show production makes me feel like I need to pull the plug on FPS, as I will never be able to live up to that level of commitment and dedication they put into that all for only one 2 hour event.
All I can say Kudos to all the EF staff, the Ringberg Staff, and to all those international friends I got to hang out with.
There has got to be something to say about being able to travel anywhere in the world, and have friends in nearly every country. |

| Well... |
[Aug. 15th, 2008|12:02 am] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | crappy | ] | I rolled 1700 miles today in 2 months of riding... Pretty much been trying to ride every day..
Well, tonight it happened.. My first lay down :P
I was approaching an intersection which I had a green light for, and everyone was stopping fast for cross traffic police cars in emergency pursuit, so left lane of traffic was stopping fast, and I was in the right lane of traffic (no one in front of me before breaking into the intersaection.. Well I applied the brakes a lil too hard, and before I knew it.. in a split second, I was on the road :P
I was only doing about 30, and skidded along a lil bit. Riding jacket broke the impact and protected most road rash on my elbow (Very minor abrasion) tho my watch crystal got scraped up. My right hand is sore from something. My left knee has that kinda scrape I have not had since I was a kid. My brand new bought last night jeans only took mild abbrasion.
The bike scraped up pretty good, rubbed a hole in a saddle bag, busted a turn signal, and bent up some things.
Stood up, had a couple guys in a truck asking if I was ok, picked up the bike, picked up my parts, it started, and I rode it home..
All in all, I'm lucky.. since it's not a matter of IF you lay it down, but when.. and I guess my first was not too bad considering.. tho I'm sure I'll feel it in the morning.
I was able to unbend and fix most stuff, epoxy turn signal in till I can order one from china..
as for body panels all scraped up.. wonder if I should even bother.. do skids add character?
And I can say... Wear that gear!
Next Day P.S:
After sleeping on it.. (A lil sore this AM, but not as bad as I was expecting.. I have not had scraped knees like this since I was a kid, but it was more "rug burn" from my jeans making a fast tug, since they did not get rubbed through)
I think I figured out what happened. In my emergency stop, I applied both brakes as I would have normally in any of the other fast stops I had done, but I applied them harder in the over reaction of the situation.. well, I didn't lock up and skid.. the back end of the bike lifted slightly off the ground, and the back end shifted to the right, and in that split second, the bike was on it's side, and I was skidding down the asphalt.
I wasn't gonna let this thing take the better of me.. I'm still pissed over the situation.. I friggin got back on the horse this AM and came to work.. |

| New Ride |
[Jul. 4th, 2008|03:51 pm] |

I braved up enough today to go into real traffic and did a 40 mile commute.. Only stalled 2 times, and didn't lay it down. I was scared shitless going above 30mph at first, but I got the hang of it.. I think I'm gonna like this.. even with it being 95 degrees outside, it was breezy and I felt comfortable.. I can see why people get hooked on this.. It is fun to ride.. And like, it's like learning how to drive all over again. Can't beat 80mpg either :> I take MSF on Monday, and should be all official on Thurs! So in the past week I put 80 miles on it.. 40 just around the back streets of my neighborhood, and 40 on a real commute to a store and restaurant. It is weird standing in the middle of a busy intersection.. It feels like you are almost a pedestrian amongst all the stopped cars at a traffic light :>
I'll have to get someone to take pics with my gear on :>
For those wondering, it is a 200CC Verucci Nitro. A chinese made bike (company mostly does scooters) but it was cheap, which is good for a first time bike, seeming as I've dropped it twice trying to park it, I'm not about to go make a 600CC $8k bike a trainer.. I suspect in about a year I'll be upsizing :> |

| Attention All Fursuiters! |
[May. 18th, 2008|10:28 pm] |
I am looking for 2 things from fursuiters.. and others that wish to help!
First: I am looking for suggestions for different "Marches" music we could play during the parade, rather than just loop Baroque Hoedown again. Looking for idea of songs, preferably without lyrics, that take a good march beat.
Second: Anyone that can bring a FM Boom Box, Ghetto Blaster, or other type of FM radio that could be carried along in the parade route to actually reproduce the parade music. Last year we only had like 3 radios, and that was not nearly enough to sound up a large 400 person parade, so if anyone has space in their luggage to bring a battery operated radio, that would be quite helpful.
Thanks! and see ya next month!! |

| Catastrophic Data Loss |
[Apr. 29th, 2008|08:54 am] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | distressed | ] | There was a Major failure of a RAID in the datacenter that hosts like 1/2 the furry fandom. Extent of data loss is not known at this time. Down time is not known at this time, and depends on if I have to re-write websites from scratch (Which will totally suck the big one). The status of things like running FPS live this sunday are still up in the air, as it may end up getting cancelled, but it too early to tell. The list of domains that I own that are currently affected:
thefoxden.com floridafurs.com pawpet.org pawpet.tv fursuit.org fursuit.com furryhams.org ppmp.info megaplexcon.org osceolaares.com osceolacountyares.org
All mail lists and mail to these domains are also down.
Also affected by this: lion.anthrochat.org and all of irc services. So popular irc channels like #fursuit are affected by this.
And before everyone asks.. No there was not a backup, since this is supposed to be a RAID, which is supposed to be data security.
The people at the data center are working on it, trying to put the bombshell back together from the exploded fragments. Hopefully I will get a status report soon :(
